For large service locations, Canteen offers fresh tasting satisfying vended foods. Our wide variety of affordable luncheon and deli sandwiches, dinner entrees, salads and snacks provide the best value for you. We guarantee it!

    Are freshly prepared foods offered?
Canteen’s quality homemade products, prepared in our kitchen, are the focus of our full-line vended foodservice program.

Who produces your vended fresh foods?
For our customers and prospective clients, Canteen welcomes the opportunity to take you through our vended foodservice program, tour our facility, and try our offerings made right here in Maine.

What steps are taken to ensure food safety?
For Canteen, food safety is priority one! All Canteen Vending Managers and Route Drivers receive ServSafe© training. ServSafe© is the foodservice industry’s leading food safety training and certification program provided by the National Restaurant Association.

We are proud to say that our kitchen for freshly prepared vended foods is certified by Silliker©. Read about our recent and past A+ scores in our current and past Newsletters (2011, 2010, & 2009) . Our kitchen is a fully accredited Compass culinary center.

All Canteen route trucks have refrigerators installed to ensure perishable items are stored securely at the proper temperature.

Does your vendor take responsibility for the freshly prepared foods they sell?
Canteen does, and if a customer is not satisfied with any purchase, we will give them their money back, a 100% guarantee with no hassles.

Are freshness dates clearly labeled on each item?
All items have freshness dates. Salads, salad sandwiches and some dinner entrees typically have two days to sell. Three or four days is standard for other luncheon & deli sandwiches and entrees.

A recent trend, are frozen dinners being merchandised in your refrigerated vending machine?
Canteen meets and exceeds producer guidelines for products sold in our venders. Most frozen dinners clearly state “Keep Frozen”. These items are only sold in Canteen’s frozen food venders.

Does your vending company promote healthy choices?
Canteen’s on-staff nutrition consultant works with our food and route service managers to produce a balanced menu with excellent variety. Many company wellness programs have benefited from her help to educate and promote healthier choices.

She can also share helpful information sheets and some special programs and initiatives that many companies have tried successfully.

This large central Maine employer organized some of the information sheets on a Bulletin Board that is on display in their breakroom.

SNACK VENDER SERVICES Canteen’s “Balanced Choices” program dedicates specific slots in our Snack machines, offering products that are lower in fat and sodium and have fewer calories per serving. This program is designed to help our customers make sensible choices about what they eat. “Balanced Choices” snack foods in vending are pre-packaged foods which meet customer expectations for today’s concerned consumer. A decal (enlarged here and can be seen on your vender) clearly explains the “Balanced Choices” program. Each product serving has:

    • 250 calories or less
    • 350 milligrams or less of sodium
    • no trans fat
    • 35% or less total fat
    • 10% or less saturated fat.

Nuts and seeds are exempted from the total fat due to their fiber, vitamin E and better fats content. However, they still must meet the criteria for sodium and calories.

Finding good tasting, sensible snacks will be easier than ever by looking for the “Balanced Choices” icon in your snack machine. Canteen doesn’t just say we will carry these items for our customers. By dedicating space in our machines for these snacks, a sensible snack purchase is always an option.

Some examples: Baked Lays, Baked Ruffles, Baked Sour Cream & Onion, Chewy Trail Mix Bar, Strawberry Yogurt Bar, Fruit Snacks, Granola Bars, Granola Berry Mix, Rice Krispie Bars, Nutrigrain Bars & Twists, Pretzels, Raisins, almonds, peanuts, Rice Cakes, Snackwell cookies, Fat Free Fig Newtons, Zoo Animal Crackers and more…
