Are freshly prepared
foods offered?
Canteen's quality homemade products, prepared in
our kitchen, are the focus of our full-line
vended foodservice program.
Who produces your vended fresh foods?
For our customers and prospective clients,
Canteen welcomes the opportunity to take you
through our vended foodservice program, tour our
facility, and try our offerings made right here
in Maine.
What steps are taken to ensure food
safety? For Canteen, food safety is
priority one!

Does your vendor
take responsibility for the freshly prepared
foods they sell?
Canteen does and if a customer is not satisfied
with any purchase we will give them their money
back, a 100% guarantee with no hassles.
Are freshness dates clearly labeled
on each item?
All items have freshness dates. Salads, salad
sandwiches and some dinner entrees typically have
two days to sell. Three or four days for other
luncheon & deli sandwiches and entrees.
A recent trend, are frozen dinners
being merchandised in your refrigerated vending
machine?
Canteen meets and exceeds producer
guidelines for products sold in our venders. Most
frozen dinners clearly state "Keep
Frozen". These items are only sold in
Canteen's frozen food venders.
Canteens on-staff nutrition
consultant works with our food and route service
managers to produce a balanced menu with
excellent variety. Many company wellness programs
have benefited from her help to educate and
promote healthier choices.
| She can also share helpful
information sheets and some special
programs and initiatives that many
companies have tried successfully. This
large central Maine employer organized
some of the information sheets on a
Bulletin Board that is on display in
their breakroom.
