We partner with local businesses, when given the choice, and foster our relationships with our fellow Mainers. We are a Maine owned company serving Maine people and we support Maine businesses. For decades, we have been proud to be leaders of local United Way campaigns and organizations in the communities that we serve. The Willey family has provided many hours of service to the United Way, hospitals, community colleges, Chamber of Commerce, along with many others. We continue to stay involved, investing our time and resources to help local organizations.
Canteen continually strives to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and our customers. Each of our locations has a Safety Committee. All of our employees that handle food are ServSafe trained, a National Restaurant Association program. Balanced Choices is our featured marketing program to encourage healthier choices. All dining center managers are required to pass a 10-hour nutrition course through Framingham State College. Canteen has an on staff nutrition consultant to monitor menus, work with wellness committees and be involved in community efforts such as the Healthy Maine Partnerships, Lets Go, and wellness councils.
As an industry, for food service, vending, and office coffee services, Canteen helps cut down on people traveling to eat lunch or purchase a snack or beverage, by providing nutritious food and beverage choices at work. Our recycling efforts include: cardboard, office paper, fluorescent bulbs, wooden pallets, pastry trays, ink and printer cartridges and waste food. We strive to work with our clients toward meeting their sustainability goals; such as composting, offering organic and fair trade coffee, and eco-friendly paper products. Vendmisers can be installed to power down cold drink machines after periods of inactivity. We strive to be responsible community members.
